(November 8, 2018) — The ValleyPBS Board of Directors announced that well-known media and public relations professional Jenny Toste will serve as the station’s fourth CEO in its 41-year history.

Toste brings a wide range of experience to lead the ValleyPBS team, most recently as an award-winning social media specialist for Fresno State, leading online fundraising campaigns and coordinating accounts across campus, and as founder and CEO of Jenny Toste Productions, creating video stories for digital media.

Toste is a regional EMMY® Award-winning anchor known for her extensive work in local and national television news, from the network level at ABC News’ “Good Morning, America” to large markets like San Francisco. She spent a decade as a reporter and anchor at KSEE24 and CBS47 in Fresno, connecting with the community and supporting local organizations.

“Jenny is the right leader at the right time for ValleyPBS,” said Jose Plascencia, chairman of the station’s CEO search committee. “Jenny’s extensive media background and business development skills will strengthen ValleyPBS partnerships, develop strategic alliances and expand our regional presence.”

ValleyPBS reaches communities from Bakersfield to Merced. The Ready to Learn program teaches parents the skills to prepare their children for school and life through over 500 free interactive workshops each year in English, Spanish, Hmong and Punjabi. The station also hosts more than 50 events like Engineer It Girl! for children and adults to cultivate strong communities and promote partnerships.

“I am honored to work with the talented team at ValleyPBS, station members and supporters, and the diverse communities in the seven counties we serve, to tell more Valley stories,” Toste said. “ValleyPBS has a great opportunity to highlight ways in which our area is leading the nation, as well as to shine a spotlight on those who are finding solutions to local issues.”

In the last year, ValleyPBS has had two locally-produced programs selected for broadcast nationally — Silent Sacrifice, Stories Japanese American Incarceration and Outside with Greg Aiello. The station also hosted gubernatorial and local congressional debates. Toste said she hopes to partner with Valley businesses and organizations to expand local production.

Toste earned a Master of Arts in English Literature from Fresno State and a Bachelor of Arts from Baylor University as a University Scholar focusing on telecommunications and journalism, and Spanish, English, and Religious Literature graduating Summa Cum Laude. Her husband, Mike, is a Valley native and local high school counselor. They live in Fresno County with their ten-year-old son and four rescue dogs.

Toste will start as President and CEO of ValleyPBS on December 3rd.
