Three Ag Industry Veterans to be Honored at Nov. 29 Industry Forum

FRESNO, Calif. - The San Joaquin Valley Winegrowers Association has announced that Lifetime Achievement Awards will be presented to L. Peter Christensen, Ron Metzler and Gary Wilson at the 2012 Winegrape Industry Forum on Nov. 29, 2012, at Pardini’s in Fresno.


Now in its 10th year, the Annual Meeting and Industry Forum is the seminal meeting for anyone interested in the San Joaquin Valley Wine and Grape Industry. The event details the myriad of business issues and forecasts pertaining to California’s number two agricultural product, grapes. The Forum is open to anyone who has a business, or passing interest in the California Wine Business. Questions to the presenters will be encouraged of the attendees. Claudia Schubert, newly installed President of Diageo Wine Estates will be headlining the much anticipated event.


Along with Schubert, speaking to the direction and trends for California Winery Production and Growth, presentations will include: Harvest Crush Review – Jeff Bitter, Allied Grape Growers; Retail Consumer Interface – Francesca Schuler, Beverages & More!; Land Prices and Ag Real Estate Trends – Ben Slaughter, Correia-Xavier; How to use Social Media for Business to Business Success – Adam Rosenberg, Edelman PR; Panel Discussion: Current State of Vineyard Investment – Mark Couchman, Silverado Premium Properties – Perry DeLuca, Wells Fargo – Bill Lewis, Prudential; California Legislation Pertinent to Ag – Brad Goehring, California Association of Wine Grape Growers.


The Forum begins with a 6 p.m. dinner on Nov. 28 where nine wines from UC Davis experimental grape varieties will be presented. The Forum continues on Nov. 29 from 7:30a.m. and concludes with a 1 p.m. lunch and presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Awards to L. Peter Christensen, Ron Metzler and Gary Wilson – all life-time pioneers to the California grape industry.


The Forum is described by many attendees as the “Best Value Business Informational Meeting for the Wine Industry” due to the pertinent information, informative questions, quality of speakers and moderate price. Find out why on Nov. 29.
