Visalia, CA – Labor Day has come and gone and with it the summer season is almost over. It is time to start thinking about the fall, and there is no better way to welcome the new season than celebrating at Oktoberfest Live hosted by the Visalia Chamber of Commerce. This year’s theme is Live at the Patch and the event promises to be better than ever with live entertainment provided by Das Polka Dots, 5Live and Leaving Austin.

Mark your calendars for Thursday, October 2, 2014 at Vossler Farms, Pumpkin Patch & Corn Maze (26773 AS. Mooney) from 5:30 – 9:30 pm. Traditionally, Oktoberfest is known for attractions, games, German food and of course Beer! “New this year, we are bringing farming and agriculture to Oktoberfest. Having Oktoberfest located at the farm is a great celebration of fall and the harvest.” said Todd Mackey, Oktoberfest Committee Chairman. Vossler Farms will host this years’ Oktoberfest which will include great local musicians, fun hay rides, traditional German food, and a movie star straight from Hollywood. “I can’t think of a better place to host a festival event, and we are excited to bring it to South Mooney Boulevard with local restaurants and beer vendors at the “Pumpkin Patch”. And as always, we will have pretzels and beer with traditional German polka music.” stated Mackey

Last year 12 local restaurants and breweries provided food and beer tastings to more than 800 attendees. This year participating restaurants and breweries include: Ryan’s Place, A&W Drive In, Dickey’s Barbeque Pit, Holiday Inn Hotel, Panda Express, Sequoia Beverage & Brewbakers.

Live music is always a big part of the Oktoberfest. This year three bands will be performing throughout the night. Das Polka Dots is a combination of session musicians that have come together to perform traditional German music tailored for this specific event. 5Live consists of five talented valley musicians that collectively perform an eclectic mix of pop music from the 80′s to present-day favorites, such as: Toto, Peter Gabriel, Coldplay, Michael Buble, John Mayer and more.

Event headliner, Leaving Austin, is the new generation of country music. Don’t let their tattoos, piercings, and skinny jeans fool you. These 5 young guys are on the cutting edge of where country music is headed. Born and raised in the central valley of California, growing up on country, pop, and rock n’ roll, they decided it was time to get back to their roots and sing country their way, “Cali Style”. After being an emerging artist at Nashville’s CMA festival in the summer of 2013 and being a part of 3 weeks of the television series America’s Got Talent season 8, the guys have hit the ground running.

This year Oktoberfest will be hosted by actor John David Gregory (JD). JD comes to us straight from Hollywood, where he has a reoccurring role on Days of Our Lives, and a supporting role in the movie “The Prey” coming out in fall 2014.
