OAKHURSTOakhurst Community Park will be filled with scores of booths offering everything from collectibles to local wine samplings and more at the 21st annual Oakhurst Fall Festival, taking place Oct. 12 and 13.

The festival, formerly known as the Wine and Chocolate Festival, has grown to encompass so much more than those two, although they do play a prominent role.

“There will be ample amounts of wine from regional wineries to sample as well as offering from numerous chocolatiers,” said Darin Soukup, executive director of the Oakhurst Area Chamber of Commerce, which puts on the event.

“The event has much more to offer as well, with artisanal cheeses, nuts, as well as beers from regional microbreweries. There will also be numerous collectibles, a silent auction, live music and a classic car show on Saturday,” Soukup continued.

The event is truly family-friendly, as there will be kids’ activities provided by the Children’s Museum of the Sierra as well as a petting zoo and a dunk tank.

“The Fall Festival is about showcasing everything our community and our region has to offer for visitors and locals alike,” Soukup said.

“We put together a truly diverse array of offerings so everyone has something they will be excited about.”

In addition, local restaurants have been invited to provide a wide variety of menu options.

“The idea is for people to see what our businesses have to offer and we have some truly amazing restaurants with talented chefs,” Soukup said. “This event provides a great venue for them to show off their skills and their best dishes. People seem to like that.”

The Fall Festival runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday. Admission is $2. Tickets for beer, wine, cheese, nut and chocolate tasting as well as and kids’ events and other activities cost $1 apiece.
