FRESNO – This year’s Fresno Food Expo will have a great new addition in the Inaugural San Joaquin Valley New Product Awards, where the winning company will not only have bragging rights but also a spotlight on them in front of the attending buyers during the Expo.

“It’s an element that we added to the show to really show the diversity of the products here in the Valley, and to show the innovation and creativity that comes out of the Valley,” said Amy Huerta, local business initiatives manager with the City of Fresno.

Awards will be presented during the 3rd annual Fresno Food Expo on March 14 in two different categories:  the Fresno Food Expo Industry Award and the Fresno Food Expo People’s Choice Award.  32 different food and beverage companies have entered 32 different products into the competition, and will be vying for the attention the awards would bring.  The winner of the People’s Choice Award will be determined by the public, and votes are now being taken online at http://www.FresnoFoodExpo.com/content/expo/new-product-awards as well as www.Facebook.com/fresnofoodexpo.

As of Thursday evening, the top vote getters were two milk producers:  Top O’ The Morn Farms, Inc. with nearly 400 votes and Rosa Brothers Milk Company.  Both businesses had a booth at a special pre-Expo show at The Painted Table in Fresno Thursday evening, along with other Expo companies offering samples of new edibles such as cheeses, fruits, olive oils, jalapenos, and tortillas.

The awards winners will be announced at the Expo.  25 percent more international buyers will be present, compared to last year.

The 2013 Fresno Food Expo is coming to the Fresno Convention & Entertainment Center’s New Exhibit Hall on Thursday, March 14.  For more information, visit www.FresnoFoodExpo.com.
