FRESNO – The U.S. Small Business Administration and AARP will again team up on Wednesday. April 23, to host the Second National Encore Entrepreneur Mentor Day.  The event is targeted at entrepreneurs over the age of 50.     SBA and AARP will host an information booth at the Manchester Mall on April 23 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

National Encore Entrepreneur Mentor Day is part of a larger effort by SBA and AARP to promote entrepreneurship among individuals ages 50 and older.  It will consist of events across the country that will match encore entrepreneurs with mentors who have small business experience.  SBA will provide information on all of its products and services, including financing, contracting, training and counseling.  The event will also provide information on AARP Foundation’s programs to help individuals find employment and employers find AARP recruited employees.

With one in four individuals ages 44 to 70 interested in becoming entrepreneurs, and 63 percent of Americans planning to work during retirement, small business ownership is a good option.  Small business owners, who receive entrepreneurship counseling and mentoring see bigger sales, hire more workers and stay in business longer.  SBA and AARP will provide the training and mentoring services older entrepreneurs need to successfully start and grow businesses and create jobs.  There is no cost to participate in this event.

The event will take place at Fresno Manchester Mall (Northeast Corner of N. Blackstone Avenue and W. Shields Avenue) 3302 N. Blackstone Ave., Suite 208 (adjacent to Workforce Connection).  Call (559) 487-5791 ext. 2701 for additional information or visit www.sba.gov/mentorday.
