Downtown Welcomes Outdoor Ice Rink

FRESNO, CA – Skaters slid across the ice and showed their abilities during the opening of the 6,000 square foot Downtown Fresno Ice Rink on the Fulton Mall Friday morning.

Kate Borders, president and CEO of the Downtown Fresno Partnership, said that to her knowledge the rink is the first of its kind in the downtown Fresno area.  The rink will stay open every day through Feb. 13, so visitors to downtown can skate the winter away.

“We wanted this to be a great tradition for many years to come,” Borders said.

General admission tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for children 12 and under.  Skate rental and parking validation is included.  The tickets are good for one day, which gives people plenty of time to enjoy what downtown Fresno has to offer in between skating sessions.  Season passes are also available:  $75 for a family, $35 for adults and $25 for youth 12 and under.  Arrangements for private events can also be made by contacting the Downtown Fresno Partnership at iceskate@downtownfresno.org. or calling (559) 490-9966.  Hours of operation are Sunday through Thursday from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. and Friday through Saturday from 10 a.m. – 10 p.m.

“I hope people come all the time, buy season passes, and enjoy downtown,” Borders said.

The Downtown Fresno Ice Rink is presented by Community Regional Medical Center, and the Downtown Fresno Partnership handles the daily operations of the rink.  Themed nights and other skating events will be held during the season.
