FRESNO, Calif. – Aug. 27, 2011 was a busy day at Chukchansi Park as the Fresno Grizzlies hosted not only the Sacramento River Cats but also renowned actor Billy Crystal.  The actor/comedian and crew took over the stadium to shoot scenes for his Christmas Day release feature film “Parental Guidance.”

Thanks to 20th Century Fox Film and the Fresno Film Commission, 200 lucky moviegoers will laugh through a special screening on Thursday evening, Dec. 20 at Regal Manchester Stadium 16.

Hollywood actor Billy Crystal shoots a scene from his upcoming movie “Parental Guidance” at Chukchansi Park on Aug. 27, 2011. There will be a special screening of the movie Dec. 20 at Regal Manchester Stadium 16 in Fresno.

“Fox Film has been great in working with us to host a local screening of Billy’s new film here in Fresno, where they shot their first scenes,” said Fresno Film Commissioner Ray Arthur.

Arthur noted that, while the stars are unavailable to attend the screening due to their promotional press appearances throughout the country, there will be a few surprises at the theater and the after party.  The FFC is working with the Fresno Grizzlies to make the evening a memorable event.

“It’s not too often that a Minor League baseball team is able to have a major motion picture filmed at one of its games, so we were honored to have Billy Crystal and the rest of the production crew in Fresno back in 2011,” said Fresno Grizzlies representative Chris Kutz.  “We look forward to seeing Mr. Crystal — as well as other Grizzlies fans and our mascot Parker — in Chukchansi Park on the big screen beginning on December 25.”

Details on the giveaway of 200 free seats to the screening of “Parental Guidance” will be announced by the FFC on Thursday, December 13. Tickets will be obtained through a website registration on a first come, first served basis.

“Parental Guidance” stars Crystal and Bette Midler as Artie and Diane Decker who agree to look after their three grandkids when their type-A helicopter parents need to leave town for work.  Problems arise when the kids’ 21st-century behaviors collide with Artie and Diane’s old-school methods.  Co-starring are Marisa Tomei, Tom Everett Scott, Bailee Madison, and Gedde Watanabe.
