BASS LAKE The Bass Lake Lions Club have announced their 8th Annual Bass Lake Home Tour taking place Sept. 14 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

The annual tour showcases some of the unique and impressive homes that have been built around the popular resort destination located just a short distance from Yosemite National Park.

“Everybody who comes on these tours says it’s a fun relaxing day. They get a chance to meet a lot of owners on site and get tips on how to decorate their homes. It’s a lot of fun,” said Beth Carver with Bass Lake Realty and the Bass Lake Lions Club, who organizes the event.

Bass Lake, once named as One of the West’s Best Lakes by Sunset Magazine, is known for its wide array of recreational activities both on and off the water, as well as large selection of lodging and dining options just off the shore.

The scenic beauty combined with fun events make it a popular place for visitors and residents alike who have poured countless hours and dollars into creating some truly majestic homes. One of those is a favorite of prior tours, a 3,600 square foot retreat belonging to Ed Koehler and Peg Sullivan. The energy efficient, handicap accessible home has inspired prior tour-goers with its mix of elegance and green building techniques.

“Entering the two-story-high great room is an experience of light and air.  At the end of the built-in buffet and between the sunken living room and dining area stands the amazing Australian ‘Eco-Smart’ ethanol-burning fireplace; above are sugar pine beams and bent-wood fans,” Carver said.

“Purposefully designed to be low maintenance, the fire-safe exterior consists of HardiPlank shingles, Eldorado Stone, stamped concrete, and stainless steel cable railing.  Naturalized landscaping and cascading water walls create a pleasing area for relaxing and entertaining outdoors,” she continued.

In addition to the tour, guests can enjoy lunch cooked up by the Bass Lake Lions Club in The Pines Village from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost for the tour is $20 prior to the event or $25 the day of. Proceeds from ticket sales will go to the Oakhurst Library and the Bass Lake School District/Yosemite Unified School District Band Program.
