’40 Under 40′ – Gretchen Moore – Downtown Fresno Partnership
Gretchen Moore arrived in Fresno in 2012 by way of Cleveland, Ohio. She is a fellow with the German Marshall Fund of the United States. The fellowship program is one component of the White House Strong Cities, Strong Communities (SC2) program, a federal initiative that aims to strengthen neighborhoods, cities, and regions by enhancing the capacity of local governments to develop and execute economic visions and strategies.
Moore is placed at the Downtown Fresno Partnership, where she focuses on fostering community engagement to stimulate economic activity in downtown Fresno. Prior to the fellowship, she managed the annual Harvest for Hunger Campaign for the Cleveland Foodbank. This 21-county food and fund drive is one of the largest in the nation, raising $3.6 million and 400,000 pounds of food, providing 16 million meals to hungry families and individuals throughout northeast Ohio. Moore spent 8 years as the commercial program director at Westown Community Development Corporation and worked as a legislative aide in the Ohio Senate and the Ohio House of Representatives.
Moore graduated from Saint Mary’s College in South Bend, IN with a degree in mass communications and a concentration in public relations. During her first year in Fresno Moore immersed herself in the community, becoming the membership chair of Fresno’s Leading Young Professionals (FLYP), a planning committee member for both Earth Day Fresno and HandsOn Central California’s Human Race, and has provided capacity-building support to over 30 downtown events. She regularly fundraises for causes close to her heart, specifically the Alzheimer’s Association, Michael J. Fox Foundation and the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation.
