FRESNO – The 27th annual Kids Day benefiting Children’s Hospital Central California hit its fundraising goal of $485,000, which is a new record for the event. Kids Day is sponsored by The Fresno Bee and ABC30.

Nearly five thousand volunteers in 20 communities throughout the valley sold Kids Day special edition newspapers, which featured compelling stories and photographs of patients and people at Children’s Hospital Central California.

The papers were sold for $1 each, but many people gave more. All proceeds stay here in the valley, helping Children’s Hospital Central California serve the children of the region. Since 1987, the event has raised just over $6.3 million.

“We are so grateful to our energetic and passionate volunteers who are the heart and soul of Kids Day,” said Molly Marquez, the hospital’s Kids Day organizer. “And we continue to be overwhelmed by the generosity of our sponsors and of all of the communities who support us through Kids Day. We saw children that day who donated their birthday money or allowances because they wanted to help. It’s an honor to be in their company.”

Kids Day 2015 will be on Tuesday, March 3.
