FRESNO – Late arriving monies received for the 27th annual Kids Day propelled the event total to $514,152, a new record. The last few years of the event nudged the $500,000 mark, but hadn’t surpassed it.  In 27 years, the event has raised a total of $6,834,956 for Children’s Hospital Central California. Kids Day is sponsored by The Fresno Bee and ABC30.

Nearly 5,000 volunteers in 20 communities throughout the valley sold Kids Day special edition newspapers, which featured compelling stories and photographs of patients and people at Children’s Hospital Central California. The papers were sold for $1 each, but many people gave more. All proceeds stay here in the valley, helping Children’s Hospital serve the children of the region.

“We are overwhelmed by this new total,” said Kids Day Coordinator Molly Marquez. “We were thrilled when we met our goal of $485,000, but monies continued to consistently stream in over the last few weeks and the end result is a total that smashed all previous records. We are so grateful to our volunteers, our sponsors and our supporters because together they made this possible.”

Kids Day 2015 will be on Tuesday, March 3.
