Leadership Fresno Seeking Applicants for Next Class

FRESNO – Leadership Fresno, the renowned civic leadership development program, is recruiting members for its upcoming Class XXX (30), convening in August 2013.

The 10-month program, under the Fresno Chamber of Commerce, provides current and future community leaders a unique opportunity to enhance their civic involvement, network with other leaders and learn about issues facing our community. Through a series of monthly, intensive, day-long classes, class members will obtain a broad overview of the issues, challenges and opportunities facing Fresno, the county and the greater community.

Leadership Fresno identifies current leaders from all sectors of the community for leadership roles throughout the greater Fresno area; promotes access to and dialogue with community leaders; and stimulates increased participation and commitment in the community.

“This leadership program has been integral in identifying and nurturing community leaders in the Fresno area for nearly 30 years,” said Anna Borgeas, chief operating officer for the Fresno Chamber. “It is an example of investing in the most valuable resources we have: our people.”

Careful consideration is given to all applicants as the strength of the program comes from the quality of its participants.  Each year, Leadership Fresno creates a class of individuals that represent the diverse and dynamic characteristics of the Fresno community.

The selection process includes application, interview and selection by a committee. Classes are typically composed of 30 to 35 members. Successful applicants will:

•            Demonstrate a potential for leadership, commitment to learning and strong interest in and commitment to the community

•            Represent the public, private or nonprofit sector

•            Hold positions of leadership in their employment and volunteer organizations

•            Live in the greater Fresno area and plan to remain active in local professional and        community activities

•            Be able to commit the time required to complete the program, and have the endorsement of their employer
