HAROLD REYNOLDS TO BE THE FEATURED GUEST AT THE FRESNO GRIZZLIES HOT STOVE GALA ON FEBRUARY 7
FRESNO, Calif. — The road to Fresno Grizzlies Opening Day on April 9th at Chukchansi Park begins on Saturday, February 7th with the 54th annual Hot Stove Gala at the Fresno Convention Center. Former Major League player and current broadcaster Harold Reynolds will be the featured guest and deliver the keynote address. Tickets for the event are on sale now and can be purchased by contacting Community Fund Director Whitney Campbell at 559.320.2547 or through email at wcampbell@fresnogrizzlies.com. Each ticket, priced at $75 ($30 for kids 12 and under), includes entry to the event, the chance to secure one-of-a-kind items at the silent auction, a three-course dinner with wine, raffle prizes, and the opportunity for photographs and autographs with the special guests. An All-Star table that seats 10 can be purchased for $700. All proceeds from the event benefit the Grizzlies Community Fund, a 501(c)(3) non-profit that has donated over $250,000 to worthwhile causes throughout the Central Valley over the last three years.
Reynolds recently completed his first year on the top broadcast team for MLB on FOX, working alongside Tom Verducci and Joe Buck during the 2014 World Series, 2014 All-Star Game, and other notable regular season games. For the past six years, he’s served as the lead studio analyst for MLB Network. In 2013, Reynolds was named the Sports Emmy Winner for Outstanding Studio Analyst, beating out well-known personalities Charles Barkley, Tony Dungy, Boomer Esiason, Bill Ripken, and Kurt Warner. He regularly appears on MLB Tonight, Hot Stove and contributes to MLB Network’s special event coverage.
Devoted to community service, Reynolds was the winner of the Martin Luther King Humanitarian Award in 1990 and one year later became the first player in Seattle Mariners history to win the Roberto Clemente Award (1991). Moreover, he was honored as President George Bush Sr.’s 195th Point of Light, becoming the first athlete to ever receive the recognition.
Reynolds was a two-time American League All-Star and three-time Gold Glove second baseman during his 12-year playing career with the Seattle Mariners (1983-92), Baltimore Orioles (1993) and California Angels (1994). In 1987, he led the American League in stolen bases (60), while in 1988 he led the AL in triples (11). He was a major-league teammate of former Fresno Grizzlies manager Shane Turner and former Fresno Grizzlies players Omar Vizquel, J.T. Snow, Jack Voigt, Jeffrey Hammonds, and Eric Gunderson.
He was also a teammate of MLB greats such as Fresno native Rex Hudler, Merced native Dave Henderson, Ken Griffey Jr., Randy Johnson, Cal Ripken Jr., Edgar Martinez, Tino Martinez, Mike Mussina, Harold Baines, Ken Griffey Sr., Gaylord Perry, Gary Matthews Sr., Danny Tartabull, Bo Jackson, and Gorman Thomas.
The Hot Stove Gala also includes award presentations to Central Valley area high school athletes, coaches, and teams, as well as a presentation to the Al Radka Award recipient. Doors open at 5:00 PM, with dinner served at 6:30 PM. More speakers will be announced between now and the event.
