Fresno Freeze Name Local Native Tim Carroll as Inaugural Head Coach of New Franchise

FRESNO, CA. – The Fresno Freeze FC announced today that Tim Carroll has been appointed the Head Coach of the inaugural WPSL team. Carroll, a product of the Fresno-Clovis area, is a 16 year soccer coaching veteran including 2 years’ experience working in the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL).

Carroll began his coaching career in 1997, at the age of sixteen. In 2002, he was reunited with his long-time mentor and Fresno State Soccer Alumnus, Christian Ogbodo, who encouraged involvement with competitive youth at Central Valley Soccer Academy (CVSA). During that time Tim also began serving as head coach at Clark Intermediate School in Clovis Unified School District.

From 2005 to 2014, Tim served as the head coach for multiple female soccer teams within the CVSA Cyclones Soccer Club, Bullard FC, and California Odyssey Soccer Club. His ability to train and motivate players, individually and collectively, helped lead more than 200 players to successful high school, collegiate, and professional playing careers.

Currently, Carroll also serves as the Youth Academy Director and Apprentice Program Director for Cencal Cosmos Soccer Club. He is also a Head Coach for Norcal Region 7 Player Development Program (PDP) where he works together with many of the top players and coaches in Northern California. Tim has also volunteered the past 3 years, to help Head Coach Brian Zwaschka and the Fresno State Women’s Soccer program.

” Coach Carroll’s accreditation includes a USSF National “D” license, he is currently pursuing his NSCAA National Diploma where he will be testing in January of 2015.

It brings me great excitement to know I will be working alongside some of the best coaches in the area as we embrace a new opportunity where women’s soccer will be highlighted for our community. I would like to thank Alex Ott and everyone involved with the Freeze for their confidence and support.”

Carroll will be joined by Associate Head Coach CJ Cooper who attains over five year’s college coaching experience including University of Montana, Gonzaga, and University of  Hawaii-Hilo. Cooper holds a USSF “C” License, he currently coaches for CenCal Cosmos Soccer Club. Cooper played collegiately at UC Irvine from 1997-2001 where he earned First Team All-Big West Conference honors. Technical Director Jason Berg was a thirteen year Director of Sport of Soccer at Clovis West High School for the women’s program amassing over 200 wins and collecting 2 Fresno Bee Coach of the Year awards, he currently coaches at California Odyssey Soccer Club, he played collegiately at Fresno State from 1991-1994 highlighted by a 2nd Team all MPSF honor his senior year.

Assistant Coach Jasara Gillette the current Director of Sport for women’s soccer at Clovis East High School and coach at Central California Soccer Alliance. Gillette holds a NSCAA National Diploma, played collegiately at NCAA Division 1 San Diego State University and has been influential in coaching youth girls for over 10 years. Rounding out the Freeze 2015 staff is Assistant Coach Erik Pottorff. Pottorff holds a USSF National “D” License, has been coaching for over twenty years and played collegiately at Fresno State University under the direction of John Bluem and Jose Elgoriaga.
