FRESNO–Fresno City Council proclaimed today as “Fresno Grizzlies National Champions Day.” The triple-a team won the National Championship in Texas on Tuesday.

The Grizzlies won the first Pacific Coast League championship in team history Sunday, then on Tuesday traveled to El Paso, Texas, and defeated the Columbus Clippers for the Triple-A national title.

Team employees, mascot Parker, and fans were on hand for the special proclamation.

The council also recognized general manager Derek Franks for his work and gave him his own day.
