Fresno businessman Bob Duncan passes away
FRESNO, Calif. Prominent Fresno businessman and long-time supporter of Fresno State athletics Bob Duncan passed away Wednesday at the age of 94.
In the 1940s, Duncan and his family founded a ceramics studio in Fresno that would grow into a world-wide business.
Duncan was recognized for his contributions to Fresno in 1985 when the Fresno Chamber of Commerce presented him with the Leon S. Peters Award, the community’s highest honor for service. He was only the second recipient of the prize.
In 2013, Duncan was given the Zinkin Award by the Fresno Athletic Hall of Fame. According to his biography on the hall of fame’s website, Duncan provided seed money to build Bulldog Stadium and was a supporter of the school’s athletics programs throughout his life.
The hall of fame biography calls Duncan one of the most dedicated Bulldog football fans of all time who only missed one game in 17 years.
