City of Visalia and Cal Water Renew Efforts to Work Together to Serve Residents

The City of Visalia and California Water Service (Cal Water) have announced a renewed commitment to working together. The City and Cal Water concur that ongoing, genuine cooperation between the two will best ensure that residents have safe, reliable, and high-quality water service for decades to come.

“While the City Council appreciates hearing from citizens about affordability and conservation, we have concluded that acquiring the water system will not help us further our current goals,” said Steve Nelsen, City of Visalia Mayor. “Instead, we believe they can be best achieved now through improved collaboration with Cal Water. By working together, the City and Cal Water will be able to solve complex water issues that must be addressed to promote the long-term sustainability of our water resources.”

Nelsen said that the City has always recognized the value that Cal Water’s Visalia employees add to the community by providing excellent customer service and a high-quality water system.

According to Cal Water President and Chief Executive Officer Martin A. Kropelnicki, the appraisal notice provided Cal Water with a valuable opportunity to communicate with both the City and the community about the contributions it makes to the well-being of the residents, and renew its commitment to collaborate with the City of Visalia in achieving mutual goals.

“We look forward to working closely with the City while continuing to provide quality, service, and value to our customers,” said Kropelnicki.
