Allegiant to Launch Phoenix-Mesa Air Service
Fresno, CA (September 9, 2015) – Allegiant today announced the launch of non-stop service between Fresno Yosemite International Airport and Phoenix-Mesa Gateway. Beginning December 17, Allegiant will operate the route on Thursdays and Sundays.
“Allegiant has been a strong supporter of our continuous air service development efforts by filling the demand for leisure travel,” said Director of Aviation Kevin Meikle. “The airline is a significant partner within our operation and has demonstrated a commitment to our region by providing low-cost airfares to popular destinations.”
Phoenix is ranked as one of Fresno Yosemite’s strongest destinations. The addition of Allegiant’s service to Phoenix-Mesa creates the availability of more airline choices from Fresno to the greater Phoenix area. Allegiant’s familiarity with leisure travel demand prompted the airline to increase flight frequencies earlier this year to accommodate peak travel to Las Vegas and now travelers will be able to fly to and from the greater Phoenix area.
Allegiant has a strong connection to the local area as it originated in Fresno providing low-cost air service to Las Vegas. Over the years, the airline has been successful at becoming a leading travel operator providing competitive airfares to leisure destinations. After relocating its operation to Nevada the airline continues to maintain an active presence in the community through air service opportunities and its economic impact to the Central Valley.
As the third largest city in Arizona, Mesa serves as the gateway to a variety of destination activities ranging from arts and culture to outdoor adventures. With more than 40 golf courses located nearby, Mesa is regarded as one the premier golf destinations in the Southwest.
Fresno Yosemite International Airport currently offers Valley passengers daily non-stop flights to Dallas, Denver, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Portland, Salt Lake City, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, and Guadalajara, Mexico on domestic and international carriers. Fresno Yosemite is a municipally owned entity operating as a self-supporting enterprise. No City of Fresno general funds are used to operate Fresno Yosemite International or Fresno Chandler Executive Airport.
