Adventist Medical Center – Selma Emergency Services Honored
Selma, Calif. – The Adventist Medical Center – Selma Emergency Department received a CEP America Distinguished Site Award for excellent performance, high patient satisfaction scores and low wait times. Additionally, Selma hospital ER Nurse Practitioner Dennis Levine, CFNP, received the Lead Nurse Practitioner of the Year Award and the CEP 10-year Service Award.
CEP America provides emergency services and inpatient physician staffing at Adventist Medical Centers in Selma, Reedley and Hanford. The hospital’s ER received the award at the CEP America Partnership Meeting in San Francisco on Oct. 24 for fulfilling operational improvement goals in turnaround time-to-discharge, which tracks the time from when a patient walks into the ER to when they are discharged. Over 1,000 providers, nurses and hospital administrators attended the awards ceremony.
Adventist Medical Center – Selma’s current average time-to-provider wait time is 13 minutes, and the time-to-discharge is 107 minutes. During October, the Selma emergency department cared for more than 4,000 patients. The department’s patient satisfaction scores have also ranked third among comparable mid-sized emergency departments, according to CEP America.
“It’s certainly exciting to receive this award,” said Chad Thiesen, Adventist Medical Center – Selma Emergency Services director. “When our team sees an opportunity to improve, they take it and run with it.”
Certified Nurse Practitioner Dennis Levine received the Lead Nurse Practitioner of the Year Award for demonstrating leadership in helping to implement and improve Rapid Medical Evaluation (RME) at Adventist Health sites in Selma, Hanford and Dinuba.
Adventist Medical Center – Selma was among four hospitals given the award, out of a total of 80 CEP America sites in the nation. “It’s exciting to receive this award – we aren’t little fish in a big pond anymore,” Levine said. “I love what I do, I love Selma, this area and CEP, so being recognized with this award is just icing on the cake. We have a dynamic team.”
