A memorial bridge sign dedication ceremony Friday in memory of CHP Officer Dean Esquibel. On Aug. 21 1985, Esquibel died in the line of duty as the result of a traffic collision was held at the Hanford area California Highway Patrol office.

In recognition of Esquibel’s contributions and sacrifice in service, a state bill officially designated the Cross Creek Bridge on state Route 198 as the CHP Officer Dean Esquibel Memorial Bridge. “Officer Dean Esquibel made the ultimate sacrifice while performing his sworn duty,” said Assemblyman Rudy Salas, D-Bakersfield, who sponsored the bill designating the bridge. “We pause to honor him, a fallen hero, by recalling his devotion, celebrating his life and honoring his service with this appreciation.”
