’40 Under 40′ – Justin Poore – JP Advising

Justin Poore graduated from the University of La Verne in 2002 with a bachelor’s of science degree in accounting, and played for the university’s nationally ranked golf team.  After graduating, he began his career as a financial advisor.  In 2004, he moved to Fresno with his wife, who is native to the Fresno area.  In 2005, Poore added tax preparation and services to his advising career. In 2008, he went back to the University of La Verne to earn his master’s of business administration with two emphases, accounting and organizational management and leadership, graduating in 2010. Poore is affiliated with HD Vest, an independent broker dealer, and received a “Top 25 Rookie of the Year” award for 2012 despite having only been affiliated with them for four months of that year.

Poore currently holds the Series 6, 63, and 65 security licenses with FINRA, working as an independent financial planner and tax accountant. He also has a California Insurance License, California Real Estate License, is California Tax Education Counsel certified with PTIN, and is a Notary Public.  Poore is a member of Phi Delta Theta national fraternity, and the National Ethics Association.

In addition to his career in helping others accomplish financial goals, Poore enjoys facilitating education in a variety of locations.  He holds a California Substitute Teaching Credential, works with Dinuba Unified Schools, and has spoken about the merits of starting to save early to the high school’s AVID classes.  Poore is also a professor for the local Fresno and Visalia University of Phoenix campuses, instructing accounting, finance, and personal finance classes.

Poore and his wife live in Fresno county with their five dogs and own 120 acres of farmland planted to almonds and Thompson seedless grapes.
