FRESNO – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central California has announced that Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer will be the guest speaker at the organization’s Stand with our Kids Luncheon at The Grand in downtown Fresno on May 21.

The event is part of a series that fosters communication and understanding, and raises the level of awareness of children in the Central Valley.

Dyer has served the Fresno Police Department for over 34 years.  As a sergeant, Dyer supervised several high profile units such as the Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT); The Patrol Tactical Team; The Major Narcotics Unit; and served as an Internal Affairs Investigator.  Between 2001 and 2013 violent crime has fallen by 33% in the City of Fresno.  Jerry Dyer’s efforts as police chief have created a much safer Fresno today than in years past. He has said that this was “as a result of our focused policing philosophy, gang eradication efforts and an incredible amount of involvement and support from our community.”

Dyer will present and talk about his experiences in the Fresno Police Department and working with community with a particular focus on how crime and gang prevention help the youth in our community.

The luncheon will be held at The Grand, located at 1401 Fulton St. #212 in downtown Fresno, on May 21 from 12 p.m. to 1:15 p.m.  Tickets are $30, and table sponsorships for 10 seats are priced at $300.  To register and pay for the event, send an RSVP to nconway@bigs.org or call Nancy Conway at (559) 268-2447.
