Fresno City Council Members Finish Terms
FRESNO – While new Fresno City Council members Steve Brandau and Paul Caprioglio took the oath of office this morning, outgoing members Andreas Borgeas and Larry Westerlund were saying farewell to their colleagues.
Westerlund had represented District 4 since Jan. 2005, and spent seven years and one month in service to the City of Fresno, taking time to serve overseas in the United States Navy.

Fresno City Council Member Oliver Baines, Larry Westerlund, Andreas Borgeas, and executive director of the Fresno Redevelopment Agency Marlene Murphey.
“It has been an honor and a privilege to represent the residents of District 4,” Westerlund said.
Borgeas took the oath of office to become a Fresno County supervisor earlier this week, and was tearful when his special video presentation was played in the Council Chambers.
“This job would not have been as bearable if it weren’t for all of you,” he said to the rest of the council.
Fresno Mayor Ashley Swearengin and Council Member Lee Brand were both reinstalled in their positions as well during the special City Council meeting.
