FRESNO GRIZZLIES HOSTING SECOND ANNUAL BLANKET AND COAT DRIVE
FRESNO, Calif. — With temperatures beginning to plummet in the Central Valley, the Fresno Grizzlies are acting one month earlier than last year to collect blankets, coats and other winter clothing garments for residents in need. All donations will go to Catholic Charities, which is a Community Benefit Organization (CBO) located in Downtown Fresno devoted to helping and empowering people of the community and have been serving low-income residents in Fresno, Merced and Kern County for over 48 years.
Donations of gently used or new blankets, coats and other winter garments can be dropped off at Chukchansi Park starting Monday, November 9th through Saturday, November 21st. Drop-off hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday on the second floor lobby of the Grizzlies administration office. The offices will be closed on November 14th and 15th and reopen on the 16th at 9:00 a.m. The final donation day will be on Saturday, November 21st from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in front of the Grizzlies Team Store located off H Street.
Those making a donation Monday through Friday can enter Chukchansi Park off H Street through the glass doors left of the box office. Once inside, take the elevator to the second level and then exit left to head through the double doors where donations can be dropped off.
Each person that makes a donation will receive a voucher good for two (2) tickets to see the defending champion Fresno Grizzlies in 2016, as well as a coupon for 20% off in the Grizzlies Team Store (valid through November 30th). Also, the Grizzlies will reward the first 100 people that make a donation with a limited-edition Parker bust.
“When most of us welcome in the colder weather in the Valley, there are far more that have an opposite mindset because they do not have the luxury of outfitting their family with blankets or coats or gloves,” stated Derek Franks, Grizzlies General Manager. “We implore those who can lend a helping hand to make a donation and give the gift of warmth.”
The Grizzlies recommend that donations consist of gently used blankets and/or coats, but any practical winter clothing garment will be welcomed. A list of suggestions is below:
