40 Under 40: Steve Carter – Citibank
Steve Carter spent most of his life in Little Rock, Arkansas and following high school he attended Henderson State University in southern Arkansas on a football and academic scholarship. He finished school in 2005, and achieved a degree in marketing with a minor in history.
Upon graduation, Carter worked for IT Consulting in Washington, D.C. as head of state procurement, responsible mostly for research and development, along with public relations. While still in Washington, D.C. he became a banker for Citibank, and still holds the position to this day after transferring to Fresno several years ago.
Carter has volunteered his time for many different organizations, including Bringing Back Broken Neighborhoods with current Fresno City Council Member Oliver Baines, Fresno West Coalition for Economic Development, Kappa Alpha Si, Single MOMS Breakthrough, Fresno’s Leading Young Professionals, the African American Museum in Fresno, and the Fresno Metro Black Chamber of Commerce, where he sits as treasurer.
Carter and his wife and high school sweetheart, Tiffiney, both live in Fresno. Carter enjoys working out, playing video games, drawing, and working with the iMovies program on his computer. He tutors for various organizations, and is pursuing a master’s degree in finance.
