40 Under 40: Katie Stevens – City of Fresno
As government affairs manager for the City of Fresno, Katie Stevens facilitates and maintains the City’s intergovernmental relationships with local, state and federal agencies, as well as legislative offices.
She advocates for the City’s legislative priorities in cooperation with its contracted advocates in Sacramento and Washington, D.C. Stevens provides analysis, technical assistance, and recommendations regarding legislative issues, intergovernmental activities, grant opportunities and other matters to Mayor Ashley Swearengin, Fresno City Council members, and the City’s senior management team.
Stevens has become a key member of Mayor Swearengin’s staff and works diligently with local, state and federal officials to bring them to the table for the benefit of the City of Fresno. She works on special initiatives concerning high-speed rail, energy efficiency and enhanced economic development rate proposal for commercial and industrial users. Stevens has previously worked as a senior policy advisor for Congressman Brian Baird, a legislative assistant to Congressman Cal Dooley, and led legislative agenda for Governor Schwarzenegger’s California Partnership for the San Joaquin Valley.
Stevens lives in Fresno with her husband, Josh Addison, and their dog Mr. Jangles. Her hobbies include playing indoor soccer and running.
