Clayton Clark has been playing tennis since the time he could pick up a racket, and was featured in a local newspaper playing the sport at age 3.

He was born in Belleville, Illinois and was raised in Saint Louis, Missouri.  He is a St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan, but played tennis through his junior year of college, before tearing his ACL.  Clark has had the privilege of playing tennis phenom Jimmy Connors.  His participation on the tennis team at Murray State University in Kentucky allowed him to travel throughout the East Coast and the Midwest.

Following his injury, Clark got a job with the college TV station, MSU TV, and at age 21 was the station’s first sports director.  He then got an internship with the FOX affiliate in St. Louis, and was inspired by Tim Ezell, the morning features reporter there.  He accepted the same position four years ago at KMPH FOX 26, and he and his wife, Courtney, moved to Fresno.  Clark is now the morning features reporter for the “Great Day” program, and has enjoyed such local celebrities as Fresno Mayor Ashley Swearengin, Fresno State softball Coach Margie Wright, and Fresno State football Head Coach Tim DeRuyter.

In addition to his job at KMPH, Clark is a tennis pro at Fig Garden Country Club and volunteers his time coaching tennis for Break the Barriers.  In fact, one of his wheelchair players has recently been given a scholarship to the University of Arizona.  He and Courtney, who have been married three years, have adopted two dogs from local shelters.
