40 Under 40: Alysia Sofios – KMPH FOX 26
Alysia Sofios is an award-winning journalist who is known in the Fresno area for her exclusive stories about the Marcus Wesson murders. She was the first reporter to hear about the story from police and the only reporter to obtain interviews with most of Wesson’s family.

Sofios majored in journalism at Michigan State University, and earned a bachelor’s degree in that field with an external specialty in public relations. In 2000 she became a reporter and anchor at FOX affiliate WSYM in Lansing, Michigan, and also worked in public relations. Sofios was recognized by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters for her work covering the local impact of the Iraq War. She later accepted a reporting position at KMPH FOX 26 in Fresno, where she remains as a reporter. Sofios has covered the Scott Peterson and Marcus Wesson trials. Several of her stories have appeared on FOX News and CNN. She is a featured reporter for “American Idol,” and has appeared on the Travel Channel’s “Trip Flip” television program. Sofios is currently the host of KMPH’s “Valley Life” show.
While working as a TV reporter in Fresno, Sofios covered the worst mass murder in the city’s history; a father who killed nine of his children during a standoff with police. After learning the surviving family members had nowhere to go, she moved some of them into her home. Over the next few years, they went on a life-changing journey together, and Sofios wrote a book based on the Wesson trial and the family’s inspirational story. “Deadly Devotion” was published nationwide in July of 2011 and continues to flourish in all markets.
Sofios resides in Fresno with her dog, Izzo. She is a huge Detroit Tigers and Michigan State Spartans fan.
